Medicinal Marijuana and Chronic Back Pain - Is it the Answer?

marijuana
Had to post this article on from my Facebook Timeline.  I have been doing alot of posting about legalizing marijuana for medical purposes.  My belief is that it is MY answer to finding , after a 30+ year search ,  some relief from my chronic back pain.  I have another posting  just about ready on the most recent answers that medical america has for chronic pain sufferers I will post it before I post any more about marijuana.
I hope you understand this has been a long, painful search.  I know those of you who are reading this post know just what I am talking about.

I feel I have paid my dues, I deserve some Chronic Back Pain Relief,  as do all of you.

marijuana
I do not make this statement lightly, I have had 12 major orthopedic surgerys, countless smaller surgerys for dorsal column stimulators, and morphine pumps, every answer that the medical community offered me for pain relief I endured.   I have even had a blood clot peeled  from my spinal cord, yes you read that right peeled  from my spinal cord itself.  I am thankful everyday for the ability to walk. I could go on and on until you would definitely click off from my blog.
I have done my research, LIVED my research. I will share more with you about my 30+ year search for chronic back pain relief in the near future.
I have been posting about a number of different exciting events recently, wanting to show you that chronic back pain doesn't own my life.  It directs my day to day activities or lack of,  is the first thought in my mind when I get out of bed  and retire at night, I do everything humanly possible not to let it own or define my life.  It's not easy.

I fight a constant battle with my Chronic Back Pain so that it doesn't own my life.
Leave your remarks and judgements in the comment section at the bottom and I will respond just as  I have been.

When I incorporated the Live Chat Box on my site,  I made the commitment to be here Live daily from 1 - 2 pm est, I don't take that commitment lightly,  I am here no matter what there have been days the pain is so bad the tears just stream down my face, but I know as I have known for years the very moment I stop CHRONIC BACK PAIN has won.

I will also share in the posts to come the ways I have coped with Chronic Back Pain and not let the Pain win.

The article I was so excited to share below was posted on my Facebook Timeline yesterday, by one of the Blogs I have been following about legalizing medical marijuana.
It brought me some hope and also still leaves me believing they are holding my releif in thier disputes.

Do You Really Believe That The Feds Will Respect State Marijuana Legalization Laws?

Posted by Johnny Green - August 30, 2013
Yesterday the marijuana world erupted with joy as the federal government gave it’s ‘official’ position on the marijuana legalization laws in Colorado and Washington. Headlines on marijuana websites and from marijuana activist organizations included ‘Federal government backing off war on marijuana!’ While I think it’s great that the federal government didn’t come out and say something like ‘ we are going to bring more hate than we ever have before,’ I think that celebrations within the marijuana reform community are premature.
marijuanaAfter all, the Obama administration has stated before that it will back off marijuana enforcement (medical marijuana). In 2009, the Obama administration issued a memo stating that it would respect state medical marijuana laws. Literally the same time that they issued the memo, the feds were opening investigations against medical marijuana providers across the state. After making an empty promise to respect state medical marijuana laws, the Obama administration went on to raid more medical marijuana providers than the Bush administration. So forgive me if I don’t jump for joy, but I don’t believe anything that was said yesterday.
If the Obama administration was truly planning on respecting state marijuana legalization laws, it would issue an Executive Order stating as much. Instead, they sent out a glorified e-mail which more or less stated that while they respect marijuana laws in Colorado and Washington, they reserve the right to do whatever they want. Don’t be surprised when raids happen on legal marijuana outlets, and don’t be surprised when the feds refuse to reform tax laws and continue to pressure security companies, banks, and credit card companies to halt all business activities with marijuana businesses.
marijuanaI hate bursting people’s bubbles, but as I always say, ‘actions speak louder than rhetoric.’ Remember what happened after the last rounds of marijuana memos from the Obama administration, and proceed with caution. The DEA is still lurking, the IRS is still enforcing 280e laws, and at this point, nothing has really changed except a memo has been sent out. You can read the memo for yourself here. What do readers think? Do you believe the White House? Do you truly think that the federal government is ‘backing off the war on marijuana?’ Or do you think that this is smoke and mirrors, and that there will still be raids? I look forward to reading your comments.

I Still have the strong belief, that the issuing of that Executive Order respecting state marijuana legalization laws is key in my finding  chronic back pain relief.

I want to issue a little warning before you watch the following video - I posted
the video because it is the conclusion to my article but it does contain some information that may offend some people.  Russ makes some very strong statements about lealizing marijuana and there are no holds barred.

Please remember most of what I write are based on my own personal experiences. Most of all they are my opinions. I live every single day in pain, I will also do whatever is necessary to relieve the pain. I wonder knowing what I do now if I would have had surgery to begin with, once again though hindsight is 20/20.Still waiting for more of YOU to share your experiences. Are you in Pain every single day? How do you relieve the pain?

Dr. Phil asks if it's OK to have sex with a drunk girl; Internet howls

By Faith Karimi and Chandler Friedman, CNN

(CNN) -- Dr. Phil McGraw has incurred the wrath of the Internet after a tweet posted on his verified Twitter account asked if it's OK to have sex with a drunk girl.

The outrage was swift:
From @spsook: If a doctor doesn't understand consent, has he abdicated his medical authority? reply y/n to @Dr. Phil #teensaccused
From @leslieupnorth: .@Dr. Phil deleted his #rapeculture tweet...it's too bad he didn't realize how wrong he was until after 1000s read it. Shame him, @Oprah
Dr. PhilSpringer: Dr. Phil's drunk sex tweet OK
The tweet was quickly deleted, but that did not quell the heated responses.
From @weeddude: "Yeah I always delete my tweets that are "intended to evoke discussions..." too. Come on @Dr. Phil

'Dr. Phil' renewed for three more years

A representative for the "Dr. Phil" show issued a statement regarding the deleted tweet Wednesday, saying that it was meant to provoke discussion for an upcoming show.
"This Tweet was intended to evoke discussion leading into a very serious show topic based upon a recent news story, hence the #teensaccused label," the statement read.
"As he has maintained over many years, Dr. Phil believes that the position of those incapacitated in any fashion; be it drugs, alcohol, age or mental illness can not and do not have the capacity to give their consent to anything, especially sex, which could have life changing repercussions. This was a research post in preparation for a show, not a personal post, and Dr. Phil deleted it the second he saw it. It was clearly ill-advised. We sincerely apologize that it suggested anything other than what was intended, data gathering."
The representative said the show for which the tweet was published was taping Wednesday but could not say when the episode would air. It was also unclear to which news event the tweet referred, the representative added.

Dr. PhilI just came back from Twitter and I grabbed the image from Dr. Phil's twitter page doesn't it look so sweet and innocent, the perfect picture of a wonderful American Family.   I have to return to the beginning of the post and the title

I will admit I don't watch alot of tv anymore, I always remembered (now I am admitting age here) that celebrities were held at a higher standard. We were the deciding factor on who was famous, who wasn't, who you watched, who you didn't, or didn't want to, or you did just to see why everyone suggested you did or didn't you get the idea.
Have our standards lowered? It appears as if WE the "normal" people are held to a higher standard than celebrities, atheletes, etc. I'm not judging here just wondering out loud, which is why I have caterorgized this Eliz's Ways Rants, the people we watch on television, more importantly our kids watch on televison and look up to are not being held at the same standards we are?
What are your thoughts? Am I just ranting to hear myself rant? Leave your return rant below let your thoughts be known....

Lose 23 lbs of Belly Fat in 1 Month ? Is Original Garcinia Cambogia for Real?

Lose 23 lbs of Belly Fat in 1 Month With This Diet Cleanse That Celebrities Use. Exclusive Offer for Readers.

This report was created by Women's Health to expose the truth behind a very weird diet

Garcinia Cambogia
Garcinia Cambogia
Well, we here at WomensHealth were a little skeptical of this Garcinia Cambogia. Even after pouring through mountains of research. While I had an educated opinion, I still had no personal proof that the Garcinia Cambogia option was worth the time. So, with my editors blessing, I decided to go out and put the product to the test myself. What better way to find out the truth than to conduct my own study?

To get started, I volunteered to be the guinea pig.
I applied online for a bottle of Original Garcinia Cambogia.

Original Garcinia Cambogia is one of the most credible and trustworthy diet supplement suppliers on the market. It included a 100% Money Back Gurantee of the product and it did not try to fool me into agreeing to additional hidden offers. Another reason why I chose Original Garcinia Cambogia is because it is the most concentrated and purest Garcinia Cambogia on the market. This would give me the most accurate results for my test.
Garcinia CambogiaJennifer Miller from Toronto was reported to have lost a healthy 35 pounds in just 5 weeks while being on the Original Garcinia Cambogia diet.
In the story on her blog she states,
"I couldn't believe how easy it was. I didn't change my diet or my daily routine, but the fat melted off like butter. I love this stuff! Finally a diet that just works."
For the Women's Health Now test, it was inevitable that I was to be the guinea pig for this diet since I was about to get married. I wanted to lose 13 pounds for my wedding.
In order to try the Garcinia Cambogia diet, I had to order a product. After much research I found Original Garcinia Cambogia. Although there are many Garcinia Cambogia offers available, I chose Original Garcinia Cambogia, since they are one of the most credible and trustworthy suppliers on the market. And also, many products utilizing Garcinia Cambogia use it in lower concentrations. Original Garcinia Cambogia contains standardized levels of Original Garcinia Cambogia extract.
Here is what Original Garcinia Cambogia™ claimed on their website…
  • In a study published in the journal Lipids in Health& Disease, subjects taking Garcinia Cambogia lost an average of 19.3 pounds in 28 days without diet or exercise.
  • Original Garcinia Cambogia contains no stimulants.
  • Garcinia Cambogia has been found to increase metabolism, boosting weight loss by more than 800%.
  • Studies have shown a 39% reduction in cholesterol and an average 2 inch reduction in belly fat within 28 days
Putting the Original Garcinia Cambogia to the Test...

Original Garcinia Cambogia arrived within 4 days of having placed my order online.

The bottles I received held a month's worth of pills which worked out perfect as I was to follow the supplement routine for 9 weeks time and document my progress throughout
My 5 Week Test: Original Garcinia Cambogia
  • Take two Original Garcinia Cambogia pills per day
My Results
Garcinia CambogiaConclusion: Like us, here at Women's Health, you might be a little doubtful about the effects of this diet, but you need to try it for yourself; the results are real. After conducting our own personal study we are pleased to see that people really are finding success with it (myself included ). And you have nothing to lose. Follow the links to order your Original Garcinia Cambogia. I have provided and know that you are getting a quality product that works; no strings attached!

Improving Communication Skills

You Can't Help But Smile When You See These Twin Babies Communication

These twin babies are discussing something. What it is exactly is unclear. What is clear is the innocence, mirth and joy these two have over simply talking to each other. It reminds us of the time when even the smallest things led to the biggest smile

There are a number of different styles of communication, from aggressive to assertive and passive. In addition to the way we communicate verbally, we also have to take notice of our body language. By learning how to have effective conversations, we can also learn how to have difficult conversations.

This can help with...communication

  • talking to people
  • getting stuff off your chest
  • solving arguments
  • making yourself understood
  • making friends
The way you communicate has a big impact on your ability to get on with people and get the things that you want. Good communication skills can help you to avoid conflict and to solve problems. Open and honest communication is also important for making friends and having healthy relationships.

Styles of communication

Communication can be expressed in an aggressive, passive or assertive style.

Aggressive Communication is expressed in a forceful and hostile manner, and usually involves alienating messages such as you-statements (blaming the other person and accusing them of being wrong or at fault) and labelling.
In addition, the person's tone of voice and facial expressions are unfriendly. The assumption behind aggressive communication is 'Your needs don't matter' (I win/you lose).
Passive Communication involves putting your needs last. You don't express your thoughts or feelings, or ask for what you want. When you use passive communication it feels like others are walking all over you because you don't assert your own needs. So, you bottle things up and might feel resentful. The assumption behind passive communication is 'My needs don't matter' (You win/I lose).
Assertive Communication involves clearly expressing what you think, how you feel and what you want, without demanding that you must have things your way. The basic underlying assumption is 'We both matter - lets try to work this out'.
Assertive communication increases your likelihood of getting what you want, avoiding conflict and maintaining good relationships (I win/you win). When you are assertive you can:
  • Express your own thoughts, feelings and needs.
  • Make reasonable requests of other people (while accepting their right to say 'no').
  • Stand up for your own rights.
  • Say 'no' to requests from others at times, without feeling guilty.

Body language

The way you speak - including the volume and tone of your voice, your physical gestures, and facial expressions, all have an important impact on how your message will be received. For example, if you fold your arms in front of your chest, have a stern expression on your face or speak in an accusing tone, the other person is likely to feel defensive even before they have heard what you have to say.
On the other hand, an open posture, a calm voice, and relaxed body language helps the other person to feel at ease, and your message is delivered in a non-threatening way.
Here's an acronym that might help you remember good body language:
- Face the person squarely
Open posture, no crossed arms or fidgeting
Lean towards the person, not too much but just enough to show interest
- Maintain eye contact, without staring
- Be relaxed, don't fidget and be comfortable

Having difficult conversations

One of the most effective ways of communicating is to use whole messages. This is particularly useful when you need to raise an issue that is difficult to talk about, or makes you feel uncomfortable. A whole message involves expressing how you think and feel, while at the same time stating what you want. It consists of four parts:
1. Observations:
Describe what happened:
(e.g. 'The other day when Mike came over you didn't stop and talk to him.').
2. Thoughts:
Your beliefs, opinions or interpretation of what happened:
(e.g. 'I thought it looked rude - as though you don't like him.').
3. Feelings:
How you feel about the situation:
(e.g. 'I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable.').

4. Wants:

What you would like to happen in the situation:
(e.g. 'Next time he comes over, I'd like you to say 'hi' and to make an effort to talk to him.').

SECRETS

"The best way to become skilled and effective at anything is through practice. Whether it is managing a business, ice skating, networking with other people, writing, earning money or cooking, the way to get better at it is to actually spend a significant amount of time doing it.
We like to think sometimes that there are 'secrets' which make people effective at what they do, and that if we could just acquire those inside secrets we'd be stunningly successful. Certainly there are many things you can learn from those who are more experienced. Yet there are no secret techniques, there is o inside information; which can take the place of practice.
The ind, body and spirit are amazingly adaptive. Anything you do often enough, you will learn to do well. That's no secret. It's plainly obvious. Instead of looking for a secret technique, just get busy and get some good, solid, real-world experience. Then you'll have the ultimate inside information."

The girl in the mirror is my enemy - I was convinced I was an alien species

I was

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Colleen Deitrich has struggled with weight and body image issues all her life
To her, the "girl in the mirror" is her enemy
After being caught purging, she has decided that she can defeat the enemy in the mirror
Got a personal essay to share? Go to CNN iReport
Editor's note: Colleen Deitrich, a youth advocate for a nonprofit organization in Liverpool, New York, has struggled with weight and body image issues all her life. She first shared her powerful personal essay on CNN iReport.

(CNN) -- I have lived the vast majority of my life hating my physical appearance.

I am overweight, with kinky red hair that has a life of its own, and thick glasses I've needed since I was seven. I was the antithesis of beauty, as far as I was concerned. They say that mirrors are a window to the soul. What havoc was my soul able to wreak, this monster standing before me?
I was never thin or graceful. As a little girl I was average-sized at best. But after age 10, when I began experiencing the changes that come with puberty, I became more stout and large-boned.
In middle school, I hardly noticed. I was too busy fending off the bullies who pulled my hair, and desperately trying to cling to the few friends who hadn't betrayed me for a better crowd.

I was bullied all around. A lot of people I hung out with talked about me behind my back.

Admittedly, I ate to cope. Food never let me down.
Mirrors are my enemy.
I have lived the vast majority of my life hating my physical appearance. Overweight, with kinky red hair that has a life of its own, and thick glasses I’ve needed since I was seven. I was the antithesis of beauty, as far as I was concerned. They say that mirrors are a window to the soul. What havoc was my soul able to wreak, this monster standing before me?
No one could ever love me.
By high school, I was doing what every teen girl does...I read magazines. Mischa Barton, Rachel Bilson, Mila Kunis, and Jessica Simpson, all lithe, flawless women, graced the covers of them all.
I felt like if I didn't aspire to be like the women on Cosmo, I'd become an unlovable person. No man would want to touch me, and no girl would want to be seen near me.
I noticed all of the skinny girls in school got the most attention from boys. I was standing off to the sidelines as some of my own friends paired off and left me to my own devices. I continued to eat as I was judged.
"No one could ever love me." This was my way of thinking up until recently, and it was an idea that I had militantly drilled into my head since childhood, thanks to the media, as well as the criticisms of my family (though my mother was well-intentioned).
For a long time in high school, little things she'd say, like "You don't need to eat now" or "Your face is getting rounder" stuck in the back of my head. I'm sure she wasn't aware of how deep my issues ran at the time, and that she was only doing what all mothers do: help their kids to be their best.

I was convinced I was an alien species every time I studied my body in the mirror.

Human girls were small, delicate, and lovely. I always saw this creature of unfamiliar shape, size, and structure staring back at me, copying my movements. I had different abilities. My home was on a different planet in different star system. I was just waiting for my space ship to drop in my backyard to take me home.
But, no ship was coming to scoop me up. I needed to find a way to escape, or to hide. Yes, hide. I felt society wanted me to hide.
With college came the 180-degree flip that took me in the other direction.
I fell for this really attractive guy. He always dated really thin women, and I caught on. I regret that I ignored all of the warnings I got from my friends about him being shallow and self-interested, because I realize now that his rejection of me was what triggered my spiral. I never even told him how I felt, but a lot of my friends had heard him talking about how ugly, fat and strange I was.
I no longer ate to excess. I drank some, but mainly I abused my body with over-exercising and purging what little food I had taken in.
I reached a weight lower than my high school average my senior year. I was fainting in class and still embarrassed by my body, but I was lighter.

Yet somehow, I wasn't light enough. Still? Everyone still wants me to hide?

Should I obey? Should I hide my fat? Should I straighten my hair and get contacts? Should I learn how to do "feminine" hobbies like knitting or texting? Should I try to assimilate? Will that really change what I see in the mirror? Will it save my soul and make my future brighter? Will the people I attract be worth the effort? Will they be sincere? Will I be sincere? Who am I answering to?
Not long after school, this past October, I was caught by my little sister in an act of purging in the basement, in spite of my cautionary running of the loud, metallic ceiling fan to mask the retching sounds I made.
Scared, she told my mother, who sat and cried on my bed with me as I finally let my secrets spill out into the open. I was ashamed, lonely, gross and hungry. And I was angry. At my mother. At my sister. At society.
Okay. So I wasn't angry with any of them. I was only angry at that Girl in the Mirror. She would never change her identity, even if she changed her jeans size. I knew now who she was: Me. I should only have to answer to myself. What do I think?
My revelation occurred that average afternoon as I gazed at my image. I spoke softly, my lips barely moving. I realized I'm a person. There is more to me than meets the eye.
I am a pacifist, a lover, an inspirer, a friend to animals, a sister, a daughter, a woman. My body is just my Tupperware container for all of these special things. The things you can't see in a reflection.
The mirror couldn't tell me this. It couldn't even speak. Only I could make the mirror speak.
The mirror said, "Hate yourself."
I gave it a death glare that could strike fear into the heart of a warlord. My declaration of war was silent from my lips, but earth-splitting in my eyes.
"Make me."
The mirror shattered. I have finally won. I went to reward myself with a delicious plate of strawberries that I had no intention of throwing up.
After I heard Colleen's story on CNN I knew it was a story that I wanted to share with all of you.  So many people feel the way that Colleen felt through high school and aren't able to express themselves as well as she has.  There was another link shared in the story above,
Go to CNN iReport  at the end of the story was a note from the author:
**AUTHOR'S NOTE: I suffered (and continue to suffer) from Body Dysmorphia, and I have had past cases of bulimia and binge eating disorder. It is a daily uphill battle that writing, reading, and painting help me to defeat.**
Have you won your battle with the mirror?  Or has the mirror won?  Respond in the commet section below.
