Is there Relief for Chronic Lower Back Pain?
By now I am sure you realize one of the most important drives in my life is pain relief. I learned that there is no such thing as a majic pill or treatment too late in my experience. I am sharing mine with you in hopes that it can prevent someone from suffering even if just a little. My pain scale is at an 8 even on good days.
Third surgery. Yes and even this is not the last.
I was desperate to be out of pain.
My children were growing up fast, I was missing so much in their lives, my marriage was suffering. Lets face some hard facts here my life was suffering. My participation in my own life was focused almost totally on being out of pain. I am one of the lucky ones, my husband has stood by me through my search in pain relief not many marriages survive.
I had found out in 1989 I had a serious problem, my fusions weren’t healing, not even starting to fuse. This was when my doctor first stated he thought I had disintegrating disc disease.
Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) is the gradual degeneration of the discs that reside between the vertebrae in the spine. The discs in the spine act as shock absorbers for our entire body weight.
Issues with Current Bone Graft Procedures for Spine Fusion

The decision was made to do another fusion with donor bone. I was still awake when they wheeled me into the operating room, I still remember the donor bone being brought into the room in a box.
Yes you read that right in a special box.
Spinal fusion surgery entails stopping the motion at a painful motion segment
(the joint formed by two vertebral bodies). The theory is that if the joint
does not move, it will not create pain. The fusion itself is achieved placing
bone along or in between the vertebral bodies. As the bone grows, it fuses
the vertebrae together and eliminates the motion at that segment of the
spine.

The total Bill was only $2,464.00. Definitely Quite a bit higher.
My desire to relieve my pain is the main focus of all my life, has been for 30 years my thoughts lately keep turning back to the television program I saw on CNN
